My oil painting of the dramatic descent from the Pen Y Fan peak as the sun rises above the mist below. It captures two people and a dog silhouetted against the dawn sky as they hike down a rocky path.
I visited the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) in September last year and (thanks to my friends' enthusiasm) embarked on the Horseshoe hike to climb Pen Y Fan before sunrise. It was cold and dark but such a fun adventure!
This scene is painted from a photo I took as we starting climbing down from the Pen Y Fan mountain peak. In the distance you can see the Neuadd valley and reservoir hidden under the morning mist. The rolling hills are being softly illuminated by the huge morning sun, which seemed larger due to our altitude!
