Frequently Asked Questions
Can I read what collectors have said?
Yes, I’ve included a recent review below. You can read more reviews on Google Reviews here.
“What an incredibly talented artist! Kind, generous, professional. In summer 2025, I traveled to Wales and visited Bannau Brycheiniog, where we climbed Pen Y Fan - very special place - and I was delighted that Harriet had a beautiful painting for sale that somehow had captured my experience and memory of the place. Additionally, the piece had been in a show and the frame was handmade by the artist. The 'extras' that came with the painting - the playing cards and greeting cards, etc. - were lovely, but the 'making of' book was the most unique of all! Really grateful to have found Harriet Lawless and wishing her much success; hope you will find a piece that speaks to you too.”

Can you paint from photos?
Yes. I use photos and sketches as references for all my paintings. Many of my commissions start from photos, either supplied by my client or sourced by me.
What materials do you use?
I paint with artist-grade professional oil paints on linen or fine cotton canvas. Each piece is varnished for protection. You can read more here.
Do you take commissions?
Yes, I take on a small number of commissions each year. Together we’ll choose the subject, mood, and size, and I’ll keep you updated as your painting develops. You can learn more and enquire on my Commissions page.
Do all paintings come framed?
Yes. Every painting is custom framed and ready to hang. I work with my trusted framer who hand-finishes each frame to suit the artwork and your style.
Where are you based?
I’m originally from Australia, I’m based in London, and I travel for months at a time to paint. I spend most of the year in the UK, Australia and Greece, but you could find me painting anywhere in the world. Regardless of where I am, I’m always contactable, always creating new work, and I ship my paintings worldwide through my framer.
Will you paint more scenes from [location]?
Possibly. I often revisit my favourite places, so it’s worth joining my collectors’ list to keep an eye on my new paintings. If you have a particular view in mind that’s meaningful to you, I also accept commissions and can happily paint from your photos.
Do you offer payment plans?
Potentially. If you’re interested in this then please ask when you enquire to buy. I will only frame and ship once payment is made in full. You can see details in my policy page.
Do you accept returns?
Yes. I stand by my work and offer a 90 day money-back guarantee. Please read my Returns Policy.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, my paintings include free worldwide shipping with full tracking.
How long will my painting take to arrive?
Framing usually takes 2-3 months, depending on the frame design and time of year. Shipping times can vary due to the size of the painting, destination, customs processing, and other factors beyond my control such as weather or travel restrictions. I’ll send you the tracking number which will have an estimated delivery date, and I’ll monitor it until you receive your painting.
If you need your painting by a specific date, please let me know when placing your order. I will do everything I can to meet that deadline but cannot guarantee delivery on a specific date. Read more on my Shipping Page.
How do I care for my painting once it arrives?
Each painting comes with a story and care package that includes a hanging and care guide and kit.
Can I see your paintings in person?
At the moment, my work is only available to view online. If I exhibit in person, my mailing list will be the first to know.
